Rhapsody of Realities Devotional & Prayer 10th November 2026
TOPIC: GOD IS A SPIRIT
SCRIPTURE: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).
Many people struggle to understand the word “spirit” because it’s a term that describes a reality beyond the grasp of the natural senses. The Greek word translated “spirit” is “pneuma,” a word also used for wind. Why wind?
It’s because you can feel its impact and see its effects, yet you can’t see it with your physical eyes or fully explain its movements. The illustration helps us appreciate some characteristics of spirit but it doesn’t define God’s nature. When the Bible says, “God is a Spirit,” it isn’t describing God as an impersonal force without personality or form. Rather, it reveals His nature.
God is a Person. He has personality, purpose, intelligence, and will. The Scriptures make this even clearer through the Lord Jesus Christ, who said, “…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father…” (John 14:9). The Bible also declares that He’s the express image of the Father’s person (Hebrews 1:3).
If you want to know what the Father is like, look at Jesus. He’s the perfect and complete revelation of the Father. In Christ, the invisible God has been made known. This understanding transforms your fellowship with God. You’re not relating with an unknown power or an undefined spiritual force.
You’re in fellowship with a real spiritual being, your heavenly Father, who has revealed Himself perfectly in Jesus Christ. Through the New Birth, you’ve been brought into a living relationship with Him, and by the Holy Spirit you know Him intimately. Blessed be God!
The One who created all things isn’t a mystery; He revealed Himself in Christ Jesus, and through the Holy Spirit He lives in you. Walk in the joy and confidence of knowing Him personally.
Prayer
Dear Father, thank you for revealing yourself to me in the Lord Jesus Christ. I rejoice that I know you personally and live in fellowship with you through the Holy Spirit. My knowledge of you increases continually as I behold your glory in your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
